Liverpool with have to pay “a lot” for Gianluigi Donnarumma

Gianluigi Donnarumma

Reports originating from Italy claim that Liverpool are showing interest in AC Milan’s highly-rated goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Liverpool are in the hunt for a new goalkeeper to replace Simon Mignolet and the 19-year-old’s name has now gone into the hat of goalkeepers who Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp is apparently interested in.

We believe that Jack Butland is high up on the agenda but you have to ask yourself if he along with Donnarumma would be willing to be considered a No.2 behind Loris Karius. Butland has strong international aspirations and he wouldn’t find it hard to secure a place in most Premier League sides while Donnarumma is a fantastic goalkeeper who will attract attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs if he actually became available.

Reports today claim that Liverpool along with Manchester United and PSG are interest in Donnarumma. AC Milan have tried to play down suggestions that they could allow their ‘keeper to leave but money talks and they know they could pocket millions from a sale.

Speaking recently, Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli said: “The clubs, if there are any, will make their offers and we’ll see if they satisfy us.

“Donnarumma is part of the future of Italian football, he’s worth a lot. We know the market, and we really think he’s worth a lot. We haven’t budgeted for selling him.

“We’ll wait and then do what we have to do. That applies to everyone, we want players who want to participate in our project. We want people who are convinced.

“If a player is to leave it takes two things: they have to tell us that and there has to be a satisfactory offer.

“We hope he stays with us and it’s the same for other players. If a player comes to us and says he wants to leave, the club he wants will have to satisfy Milan.

“Donnarumma hasn’t come to us to tell us that he wants to leave. We are working to strengthen the team, not to dismantle it.”

There have been suggestions that Klopp has already spoken to Donnarumma’s agent about a possible transfer to Anfield.
