Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has ruled Philippe Coutinho (ankle) and Joël Matip (ankle) out of Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle.
Daniel Sturridge (ankle) will “probably” train at Melwood today while the boss says James Milner (calf) “is better” but won’t be risked. Jordan Henderson (heel) is another player who is unlikely to be rushed back.
Joe Gomez will make his return following 16 months out with a serious cruciate ligament injury. The 19-year-old has seen some Under 23 action but hasn’t turned out for the Reds since October 2015 which was against Sion when Brendan Rodgers was still in charge.
Loris Karius should replace Simon Mignolet in goal having previously lost his place in the side following a number of blunders.
Midfielder Kevin Stewart is also expected to make the starting XI.
Plymouth’s new signing Nathan Blissett, a lifelong Liverpool fan, is unable to turn out against the Reds as he is cup-tied.
