Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi is attracting interest from Liverpool.
The 22-year-old Switzerland international – who can play anywhere across the back four- is attracting major interest from Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp as a result of his impressive form and progress this season.
Signed from FC Zürich for €4million (£3.47m) in 2015, Elvedi is a fast, hard-tackling defender who is outstanding in the air.
A regular for Borussia Mönchengladbach, he is also a favourite with the fans who want to see him tied down to a new long-term contract. We believe Elvedi’s existing deal expires in 2021.
Italian giants Inter Milan have been tracking him for some time and there are rumours that Arsenal are also snooping around in the background.
It is Elvedi’s performances at centre-back that appear to have caught the attention of the Liverpool manager. Sources close to the club believe that Elvedi would be a good addition to the squad and an improvement on a couple of options that Klopp already has at his disposal.
There are suggestions that a fee of around £20million could secure his signature although Borussia Mönchengladbach, who are currently third in the Bundesliga, will be hoping to hold on to him.
