Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is interest in signing Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Valon Berisha.
We can confirm that the 25-year-old midfielder, who has been capped 20 times by Norway but switched his allegiance to Kosovo in 2016 after they became a FIFA member, is definitely on Klopp’s radar.
Liverpool scouts were recently dispatched to watch Berisha in action against Borussia Dortmund. They were joined by scouts from Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham. Toon boss Rafa Benitez, has according to reports, been tracking Berisha for 18 months.
We recall Liverpool being linked with Berisha more than 4 years ago when Brendan Rodgers was in the Anfield hot-seat. We can think of at least two games that Liverpool scouts were deployed to watch him at the time and it was suggested that another former Liverpool manager, Gérard Houllier, could help make something happen as Red Bull’s Global Sports Director. Nothing materialised but the latest intel suggests that Liverpool are now interested in discussing a possible deal with Sadio Mané’s former club.
It has also been claimed that informal contact has already been initiated for Berisha who can operate in the centre of midfield or on the left.
Reports are now starting to hit the UK about our interest in the player. Sources close to the club insist the general reporting of us having an interest in him are genuine.
