Liverpool Football Club are “determined” to win the signing of Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton, claim newspaper reports today.
The 17-year-old scored his first senior goal for Forest against Aston Villa in the Championship on Saturday, a late strike which secured a victory for the home side. Subsequently, it is now claimed that Liverpool are desperate to snap him up, despite him only having made his senior debut against Rotherham four days earlier.
Is it just some idle speculation or is there some genuine interest here? Well, we can confirm that Liverpool scouts have been tracking him for some time and we did make an enquiry about his availability last month, as reported on this website.
Meanwhile, French striker Antoine Griezmann is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs, notably Manchester United who have emerged as favourites to land him.
Reports originating from France claim that only Arsenal and United have a chance of signing him. Chelsea are said to be keeping an eye on developments while Manchester City don’t appear interested at the present time.
The French media believe that Liverpool and Tottenham would be unable to finance the £85million release clause and would apparently be unable to tempt him regardless.
