Ugurcan Cakır

Liverpool are scouting Trabzonspor goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır.

The 23-year-old was watched by Liverpool scouts during Trabzonspor’s draw with Fenerbahçe at the weekend and if reports are to be believed, a favourable report has been provided to Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp.

Liverpool are in the market for a long-term understudy to Alisson Becker despite having a number of options already at the club. The Reds signed Adrian on a free transfer in the summer to provide cover for Alisson and also secured Andy Lonergan on a short-term deal. Youngster Caoimhin Kelleher has been covering as Liverpool’s third choice ‘keeper recently due to various injury problems at the club. Earlier this week, Shamal George joined Northern Premier League side Marine FC on loan until January.

French outfit Bordeaux are also said to be monitoring Çakır who made his debut for the senior Turkey side in May 2019 in a friendly against Greece.

It is claimed that Çakır is valued at around £14million.
