Reports originating from Spain claim that Liverpool have registered their interest in Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio.
It is claimed that the 23-year-old attacking midfielder is attracting interest from Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp ahead of the summer transfer window and that a bid could be forthcoming if the player indicates he would be interested in a move to Anfield and if a sensible fee could be agreed upon.
The Spanish media claim that Liverpool are favourites to land Asensio despite strong interest from Inter Milan and Juventus.
Asensio has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at the Bernabéu under Julen Lopetegui, Santiago Solari and Zinedine Zidane and the suggestions are that it’s possibly time for him to look for a challenge elsewhere.
Under contract until 2023, the current message from Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is that Asensio, who has a €700million (£599.1m) release clause, is not available for transfer.
Meanwhile, additional reports today claim that Juventus are also challenging Liverpool for PSG ace Adrien Rabiot. The 24-year-old continues to be linked with the Reds on an ongoing basis.
