Liverpool play down Ousmane Dembélé reports

Ousmane Dembélé

Liverpool officials are playing down reported interest in Ousmane Dembélé.

The 21-year-old Barcelona winger is being heavily linked with the Reds but the former Borussia Dortmund man is not on Jürgen Klopp’s radar, claim sources at Anfield who are feeding that stance to the media.

Moussa Sissoko, the player’s agent, has denied claims that Barcelona are looking at offloading his client following suggestions that he’s displaying a lack of discipline at Nou Camp. However, the Spanish media appear to be trying to instigate interest in Dembélé who cost Barcelona €105million plus a reported €40million in add-ons in August 2017 when they signed him from Dortmund.

There’s certainly a lot of chatter surrounding the player’s future and it seems like it’s being put out there by people associated to Barcelona and that it’s not a case of Sissoko merely trying to drum up interest in him.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is a known admirer of the player but the unofficial word from within Anfield is that he won’t be making a move for him during either the January or summer transfer windows. There will be no inbound activity at all during the January window if you choose to believe what Anfield officials are drip-feeding to journalists, unless of course a couple of players pick-up long-term injuries between now and then.
