Liverpool have enquired about the availability of Schalke’s attacking midfielder Max Meyer.
Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp is an admirer of the 20-year-old and reports originating from Germany suggest he is looking at the possibility of bringing him to Anfield.
Klopp would have to dig deep to tempt the German outfit in to selling and you’d expect that he would have to shell out more than the £25m fee that was agreed with Newcastle for Georginio Wijnaldum.
The highly-rated youngster can play out wide or as an attacking midfielder but with so many midfield options already available to the manager, we may have to see some exits first, before any kind of formal offer is made, if indeed Schalke are prepared to do business.
- Mario Balotelli has been mentioned as a possible transfer target for Inter Milan.
- Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca (22) continues to be linked with a possible move to Anfield.
- Speculation in Spain today suggests Barcelona are considering making a move for Philippe Coutinho.
