Claims originating from Spain state that Liverpool have made a late move for Adrien Rabiot.
Liverpool have been linked with the 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder for some time and if you choose to believe the reports – which we don’t – then Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp has tabled a late offer in the hope of securing a transfer before the end of today.
The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer and recent reports have suggested that PSG would rather move him out during the January transfer window opposed to losing him on a free in the summer. The player, however, is obviously happy to wait until he’s a free agent despite manager Thomas Tuchel excluding him from his plans and making him train with the Under 23s for the last month.
Tottenham recently failed with a move for Rabiot with sources close to the player stating at the time that he would prefer a move to Liverpool should such an opportunity present itself in the future.
In 2017, Rabiot mentioned Liverpool during an interview while away on international duty with France. At the time he said: “I think I would like to experience something else [outside Ligue 1].
“There are a lot of very good championships, it’s also very rewarding to go elsewhere.
“I would love to play in the Premier League, not necessarily one club in particular, even though I was very fond of Liverpool when I was young.”
KOPTALK sources claim that Liverpool have not made an approach but that Klopp is monitoring the player’s contract situation and that he could make an offer in the summer depending on other ‘related’ business.
Barcelona have also been heavily linked with Rabiot but they recently secured a deal for Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
