Liverpool are continuing to monitor Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White.
The 22-year-old centre-back, who can also play on the right side of defence, is currently on loan at Leeds United and he’s doing exceptionally well.
His performances are not going unnoticed with scouts from Liverpool and Manchester United frequently casting their eyes over him. Brighton, however, will be hoping to hold onto him for as long as possible once his season-long loan concludes. Leeds want to sign him on a permanent deal but that’s not of interest to his parent club.
Brighton boss Graham Potter commented earlier this week: “The feedback about Ben has been really good, and we’re happy with how he’s done so far.
“It’s really good for him and Leeds United too, because it shows that the loan has worked well for everybody. He was a player that was really after first-team football and he’s got that opportunity there.
“Of course he’s still our player, but we’re happy that he’s having a good experience and getting better all the time, so we’re delighted.”
Responding to the speculation and attention he’s receiving, White said recently: “There is attention and praise and it’s really nice to see and hear it, but I know that I just have to keep focusing on making sure I’m the best I can be every time I step out onto the field.
“People keep saying how well I’m doing, but I know I have to keep my head down and continue working hard for the team to make sure we get the results we need to achieve our aim at the end of the season.”
Under contract until 2022, White was on Southampton’s books as a youngster but was released at the age of 16. He was eventually picked up by Brighton’s academy.

White possesses great technical ability and is a tough-tackler. He’s also comfortable making surging runs from defence to assist in counter-attacks. He is a great passer of the ball too.
Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan believes Liverpool would be an ideal destination for the young defender.
Speaking last month, he said: “He is perfect for Premier League football. He ticks every single box for the modern centre-back. He’s destined for a top-four club, he’s that good.
“He makes good decisions defensively, he is quick, very capable on the ball.
“He fits the Liverpool style perfectly as he can play from the back and bring the ball out.
“He is not aerially dominant but I don’t think that matters as much these days, as it’s very rare you are up against a 6ft 4in centre-forward.
“The physical side of the game is still there, but it’s not as important as it once was.”
Is White on Liverpool’s radar? Yes, we believe so and we believe that there’s a real chance he could end up at Anfield. Our scouts have tracked him for a couple of years now and we can see his name being recommended for recruitment. Liverpool do have some young talent waiting in the ranks but we still wouldn’t be surprised if a bid in the region of £20million went in to Brighton next year.
