Liverpool have today being linked with Bayern Munich forward Thomas Müller (centre).
Reports originating from Italy claim that the 30-year-old wants to leave Bayern in January and there are suggestions that Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp may make an approach due to his previous interest in the player. Müller has fallen down the pecking order at Bayern following the arrival of former Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona and as a result, the versatile Germany international is said to be considering his options.
With his contract set to expire in 2021, Bayern will no doubt want to consider offers before he enters the final year of his contract and that could spark some offers during the January transfer window, if, of course, his status hasn’t changed by then, although that looks unlikely.
Speaking recently, Müller said: “I can identify a trend that does not make me happy.
“If the coaching team continues to view me only in the role of a substitute, I’ll have to think things over. I’m simply too ambitious for that.”
Inter Milan, who made an approach back in May, along with AC Milan are said to be interest, hence the Italian media currently giving the player some attention.
Admittedly, today’s reports are speculative and there’s nothing credible to suggest that Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp is looking to reignite the interest he had in Müller back in 2017. However, this isn’t a link that we’d completely dismiss. It may be worth keeping an eye on reports concerning Müller over the coming months. His versatility in attack would be a great addition to the squad.
It’ll be interesting to see what valuation is placed on him by Bayern should they make him available for transfer.
