Reports today claim that Liverpool are taking a look at Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
Reds’ first choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has been publicly backed by boss Jürgen Klopp but club insiders insist that Anfield scouts have drawn up a list of possible candidates to target ahead of the 2016-17 season.
Mandana (30) – capped 21 times by France since 2008 – is out of contract in the summer but reports originating from France suggest that Marseille would be willing to allow their skipper to leave in January for £4milllion rather than lose him at the end of the season for nothing.
Federico Marchetti (Lazio) and (Galatasaray) have also been linked recently while there are suggestions that Klopp is also looking at a couple of goalkeepers back in Germany.
Club insiders also claim that Klopp believes reserve goalkeeper Adam Bogdan isn’t good enough to challenge for a regular place in his side either.
It’s not known if Mandanda has been shortlisted or merely offered to us although that seems more likely.
