Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Napoli ace Lorenzo Insigne.
Reports originating from Italy claim that Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp may swoop for the Italy international as a result of missing out on Lyon’s Nabil Fekir.
Liverpool were previously linked with the 27-year-old back in October 2016 when the player was caught up in a contract dispute with Napoli which was later ironed out. At the time his valuation was mooted at around £40million.
Klopp is looking at alternatives to Fekir who saw his proposed transfer to Anfield collapse at the 11th hour recently. KOPTALK sources, however, insist that our interest in Fekir is not over as yet and that a deal could still proceed after the World Cup but that will depend on whether or not the Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is willing to compromise and return to the negotiating table. We’re informed that medical insurance premiums would need to be negotiated into a deal for Liverpool to proceed.
In the meantime, Liverpool have to consider their options and Insigne could be one of them. Our initial thoughts are that the link sounds weak. We can’t rule it out though and as it’s so quiet at the moment due to the World Cup we thought we’d bring this one to your attention for you to mull over.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe’s interest in Željko Buvač has ended after PSV announced that Phillip Cocu will be appointed as the Turkish side’s new head coach. Liverpool insist he is still employed by the club but he continues to be linked with various positions elsewhere.
