Liverpool have been linked with Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi.
The 17-year-old is under contract with the Austrian club until 2021 but is currently out on loan at Austrian Second League feeder club FC Liefering. Liverpool scouts are said to be impressed with Adeyemi’s progress and are feeding back glowing references to the recruitment team back on Merseyside, if reports are to be believed.
Arsenal have also been monitoring Adeyemi while German giants Borussia Dortmund are also amongst his admirers with suggestions that they could be lining up a move for him to replace Jadon Sancho who has been tipped to make a switch to the Premier League next year.
Salzburg paid £3million to sign Adeyemi from German club Spielvereinigung Unterhaching in 2018. His valuation, however, has risen dramatically in the last year due to the interest he’s currently generating. It is claimed that Barcelona have already had a £15million ‘proposal’ rejected by Salzburg and although they will want to hold on to him for as long as possible, they will do all they can to squeeze as much cash out of anyone that is intent on signing him.
Adeyemi, who has scored 5 goals in 11 games for Liefering so far this season, has represented Germany at Under 16 and Under 17 levels.
A quick look through the KOPTALK archives shows us that we sniffed around him in April 2018 after scouting him a few months earlier when he played in an international development tournament. However, Liverpool opted not to make a recruitment attempt and instead chose to monitor his progress.
Adeyemi is left-footed and has considerable pace. He can play as a striker or on the wing.
