Liverpool appear to have stepped up their interest in Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri.
It is claimed that both clubs are holding talks in relation to the 23-year-old who is currently out with a serious knee injury, with a view to a future transfer if his recovery goes well and he returns to regular first team action.
The Brazilian defender, who represented Brazil at Under 17 level but switched his allegiance to Italy earlier this year, has been monitored by Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp for some time.
Roma paid Santos €2million (£1.8m) for him last year following an impressive loan spell with the Serie A outfit.
