Liverpool are still interested in Nabil Fekir and could make a fresh move for him during the summer transfer window.
Despite a deal falling through at the 11th hour last year on medical grounds, it would appear that Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp is considering make a cheeky bid for the 25-year-old now that last year’s £53million valuation has plummeted. The Lyon ace now only has a year remaining on his contract and there are suggestions that he could be sold for as little as £15million so you can see what the boss could be thinking here. Was this the plan all along when Lyon refused to renegotiate the fee last time around?
Liverpool take on Lyon in a pre-season friendly in Geneva on 31st July and that will provide a window of opportunity for officials from both clubs to rub shoulders and possibly broker a deal, if, of course, nothing has materialised prior to then.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently admitted that Fekir will be allowed to leave this summer. He said: “We have an understanding that he can go.
“Thanks to Nabil for bringing what he brought .. we have an understanding to let him go.”
Fekir scored 12 goals in 39 games for Lyon last season, captaining the French outfit to a 3rd place finish in Ligue 1.
