Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Stoke winger Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Reds have now made a formal approach to Stoke for the 26-year-old who has a £13.5million release clause that will enable him to make the switch to Anfield without any fuss following their relegation from the Premier League.
Shaqiri has indicated that he wants the move which should be sealed before the Reds head off to the United States as part of their pre-season plans. Personal terms have already been indirectly agreed.
Stoke are interested in taking 21-year-old winger Sheyi Ojo on loan but no decision has been made by Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp with regards that separate bit of business.
Former Stoke boss Mark Hughes signed Shaqiri from Inter Milan in August 2015 for £12million. Capped 74 times by Switzerland, Shaqiri would be considered a squad signing and at £13.5m, many supporters will see the transfer as a decent bit of business.
