Emile Heskey believes Liverpool risk losing the likes of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané if they fail to win the Premier League title this year.
The former Liverpool hitman has admitted that the Reds could lose one or a number of their star players if major silverware isn’t added to the Anfield trophy cabinet.
However, Heskey also feels that because players like Salah have good relationships with the fans, that this could tempt them to hang around for another go should things go wrong this season and other European giants come knocking in the summer.
Heskey said: “There’s always that risk [of players wanting to leave].
“The relationship between the players and the Liverpool fans is such that they always want to give the league another go.
“I’m not saying that they [Salah, Firmino and Mane] wouldn’t go, but there is plenty of reason for them to stay.”
Liverpool remain top of the Premier League, 3 points clear of Manchester City, despite only managing a 1-1 draw at West Ham last night.
