Liverpool have reportedly been ‘alerted’ to the suggestion that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is looking for a new challenge.
The 23-year-old Arsenal winger is reportedly growing unsettled at The Emirates which is why the Reds have immediately been touted as a possible interested suitor.
However, towards the end of last year, when it was reported that Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp was apparently considering making a January move for him, the suggestion was immediately played down.
Back then, Klopp said: “Usually I don’t say anything about transfer rumours, but I can make an exception, no problem.
“This is nonsense. From my side, there’s nothing else to say about it.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was asked at his latest press conference earlier today to comment on the reports that suggest Oxlade-Chamberlain could be looking to turn his back on the Gunners.
“I haven’t seen that, I don’t know,” he said. “I’m surprised by that because I believe he has developed well, developing well at the moment, he’s been given his chance.
“All I can say is personally I rate him highly, I showed that in the way I kept faith in him when he was injured.
“I personally wish that he stays at the club, he’s a very promising player who has developed very well, looks to have the values we rate at this club.”
