Jürgen Klopp unsure if Philippe Coutinho will leave in January

Jürgen Klopp & Philippe Coutinho

Jürgen Klopp has admitted that he doesn’t know if Philippe Coutinho will leave the club during the January transfer window.

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have always maintained that the Brazilian is not for sale although few supporters believe that.

We believe the player was promised an exit next year, providing he agreed to drop trying to secure a move to Barcelona during the last window and subject to the La Liga giants offering a realistic fee.

Barcelona have continued with their interest and hope to finally secure a deal ahead of the 2018-19 season. Ideally, they would like to sign Coutinho during the January window whereas Liverpool would obviously rather hold on to him until the summer.

The Catalan media insist a transfer between both clubs looks likely while their Merseyside counterparts continue to ridicule their claims.

Commenting on the situation, Klopp said: “I don’t think about it for one second.

“I’m not unsure, I’m not sure.

“Nobody knows what will happen in January.”

Sources close to the player insist he still wants to leave the club. While that would appear to be the case, he has continued to act as a professional and he’s not downed tools and sulked.

We expect he will leave but Barcelona are likely to try it on during negotiations, negotiations which Spanish football pundit Guillem Balagué insists are currently not taking place.
