Reports originating from Germany claim that Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has held informal talks with the agent of Granit Xhaka.
Borussia Mönchengladbach have issued a hands-off warning to clubs that are interesting in signing the highly-rated 23-year-old midfielder although the club’s sporting director Max Eberl admitted earlier in the month that they might not be able to hold on to him.
Arsenal, Chelsea and ourselves have all been linked with the Switzerland international with reports claiming that a bid of around £35million could tempt Borussia Mönchengladbach to cash in, although they deny this.
Sporting director Max Eberl said: “I would like to say clearly once again at this point: Granit Xhaka wants to stay in Monchengladbach and we do not want to sell him.
“He is a super player for us and will contest the second half of the season here.
“As for the figures I have seen floating round, they amuse me.”
If you believe today’s reports, Klopp has already opened up an unofficial line of communication to see if the player would be interested in a move to Liverpool in the summer. Reports go as far as to suggest that Klopp has even met the player’s agent Ragip Xhaka (his father) to discuss a possible transfer.
