Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan got 30 minutes of playing time under his belt today as he continues to make his comeback from injury.
The 22-year-old hasn’t played competitively for the Reds since the final day of the 2013-14 season due to knee problems.
Flanagan played 30 minutes, which was the scheduled time he was due to play, for the Liverpool Under-21s in a friendly against Fleetwood at the Kirkby Academy, a fortnight after returning to full training at Melwood.
He had figured in a friendly with Brondby in July 2014 and then in a charity game at Anfield back in March but ongoing problems resulted in him going under the knife in September 2014 and April 2015.
Flanagan signed a new one-year contract back in May and although he is free to negotiate with non-English clubs from January 1st, he will be hoping to prove his fitness to earn a new extension.
