James Milner doesn’t want Klopp to buy a new left-back

James Milner

James Milner is hoping that Liverpool don’t buy a new left-back during the January transfer window.

Southampton’s Sam McQueen was linked as a possible target this morning while Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor has also attracted interest from Anfield since Jürgen Klopp has been in the hot seat.

But 30-year-old midfielder Milner, who has been deployed as a left-back in the side, doesn’t want to see the boss recruit anyone.

Milner said: “It is down to me to make sure they don’t buy a left back.

“He (the manager) doesn’t owe me anything. I am a Liverpool player, he is the manager, he picks the best team to win and it is my job to make sure that what is best for Liverpool is me.

“You read a lot about players not being honourable and loyal, but clubs are not loyal to players either. But we know what business it is.”
