Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has made an enquiry regarding the availability of Matthias Ginter, claim the latest reports originating from Germany.
The 25-year-old Borussia Mönchengladbach centre-back has been linked with the Reds a number of times recently and if you choose to believe the reports, Liverpool are stepping up their interest in him.
Capped 23 times by Germany, Ginter is being tracked by a number of Premier League clubs with London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham in particular paying close to attention to his performances this season. Liverpool could have the edge over them if Klopp was to step up with an offer having taken him to Dortmund in 2014 when he was in charge of the Bundesliga club.
The suggestions are that Klopp is willing to entertain offers for 27-year-old defender Joël Matip while 29-year-old Dejan Lovren’s long-term future at Anfield also isn’t as secure as it was.
KOPTALK sources recently claimed that Klopp is extremely interest in Ajax skipper Matthijs de Ligt. The highly-rated 19-year-old is what we would deem a primary target but brokering a deal could prove difficult.
Former Netherlands international René van der Gijp recently commented that De Ligt would forge one of the best defensive partnerships in Europe if deployed alongside Virgil van Dijk and he has urged the player to make the switch to Anfield given opportunity.
Meanwhile, KOPTALK sources are also reporting that Klopp has reignited his interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt (22). The Liverpool manager has again been speaking highly of the German midfielder at Melwood since the turn of the year. Klopp is also in the market for an attacking player having lost Philippe Coutinho and having failed to land Nabil Fekir.
