Fernando Torres says he hopes Liverpool can win the Premier League this season.
The 34-year-old hitman, who now plies his trade at Japanese side Sagan Tosu, enjoyed 3 seasons with the Reds before moving to rivals Chelsea which broke the hearts of many Liverpool supporters.
Although his time at Chelsea wasn’t as positive, he did collect some silverware so he claims he holds a soft spot for both clubs.
Asked who he would prefer to win the league, Liverpool or Chelsea, Torres said: “I have feelings for both of them.
“Liverpool was the best time in my career. I love the city, the supporters and the club. I am still in touch with them and they made me feel at home when I was there.
“With Chelsea they gave me what I wanted as a player – trophies. I have great memories of my time at Chelsea so it is difficult to choose.”
He added: “I am still in touch with the staff [at Liverpool] so I wish them all the best.
“I know how important it is for Liverpool to win the Premier League. Hopefully they can win the Premier League and Chelsea can win it the year after.”
