Domagoj Vida has again been linked with Liverpool today by the British media following suggestions that Jürgen Klopp has had a fresh bid rejected by Beşiktaş.
Earlier this month it was claimed that a £13.25million (€15m) offer had been submitted by the Reds but that it was immediately rejected as Beşiktaş were looking for a fee in excess of £17.6m (€20m). The latest claims suggest that Liverpool have now tabled a £19.5million (€22m) offer for the 29-year-old centre-back. However, Anfield insiders have told KOPTALK that there have been no formal offers for the Croatia international.
There is a possibility that today’s fresh speculation is due to a post-World Cup feature that has been published in Croatia in which they look at what Croatian internationals have been linked with possible transfers as a result of their performances at the tournament. It sounds to us that this has been picked up by media outlets closer to home and that they are merely posting regurgitated claims.
Despite Joël Matip’s injury set-back, Liverpool are not expected to target another centre-back before the transfer window closes on August 9th. Matip is expected to be out for a fortnight after picking up an injury against Borussia Dortmund.
‘Claims that Liverpool have actually tabled a formal offer [for Domagoj Vida] sound a tad premature to us,’ – KOPTALK, 3RD JULY 2018
