Newspaper reports today claim that Daniel Sturridge wants to quit Liverpool in the summer following the ongoing criticism of his injury problems.
Arsenal fan John Cross of The Mirror newspaper writes that the 26-year-old striker is considering his options after coming to the conclusion that a fresh start somewhere else would be beneficial to his career.
With two-and-a-half years left to run on his £150,000-per-week contract, Liverpool would be looking for a significant transfer fee but we’re not sure anyone would be stupid enough to pay such.
Cross writes: ‘Sturridge, 26, is fed-up with the public criticism of his desire to play and is desperate for a chance to get back to playing football. It has been a nightmare 18 months plagued by injuries but he is now back in training, feels sharp and there are no fitness doubts in his mind … Klopp’s remarks about Sturridge’s fitness are affecting the striker when no-one is more desperate to play than him.’
The reports today have naturally set off the internet keyboard warriors on social media who have decided to tell the “greet c*nt” how much of a “f***ing disgrace” and “waste of b*stard time” he is.
But are the reports true? Is it just Cross stirring the pot? Is Sturridge really looking to leave? Is it his agent? Has someone made an indirect approach? Should it all be dismissed?
