Daniel Sturridge named as a Premier League super sub

Daniel Sturridge has been named one of the Premier League’s best super subs.

According to stats published by the BBC, the Liverpool striker is the 4th highest goalscorer from the bench in Premier League history having netted 15 times when introduced into play.

Ahead of him are Jermain Defoe (23), Nwankwo Kanu (17) and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (17).

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch (14), who is now at Stoke City, is joint-6th with Chicarito and Olivier Giroud.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool midfielder David Thompson believes Jürgen Klopp would definitely have signed another striker in the summer had he been able to offload Sturridge.

Thommo posted on Twitter: “We would have got a striker if anyone would have taken Sturridge off us I’m certain surprised he is still there!”

However, Klopp claimed last month that he’d never considered selling him but if you believe that, you’ll believe anything.
