Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Liverpool target Matthijs De Ligt. It is claimed that the Gunners have decided to make their move as a result of Liverpool’s attempts behind the scenes to try and temp the Ajax skipper to Anfield.
The 19-year-old centre-back is wanted by Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp and work is underway to see if a deal could possibly be brokered in the summer. However, De Ligt is now represented by controversial super-agent Mino Raiola and we can’t but help feel that this will obstruct things somewhat.
We imagine that De Ligt would cost around £70million and if you believe the latest reports, Arsenal are willing to meet a valuation in that region.
As many as nine major European clubs are interested in De Ligt but it sounds like only Barcelona, Juventus and Liverpool have stepped up so far. Today’s reports about Arsenal are rather speculative so we’re not convinced that they have actually made any kind of formal or informal approach as yet. However, Arsenal are, of course, interested in him.
We would advise that you pay attention to the De Ligt chatter between now and the summer. But, as we keep pointing out, this would, in our opinion, be a difficult deal for the Reds to secure. Liverpool negotiator Michael Edwards will in the meantime do his best.

We bought De Ligt on the Football Index when we first reported his interest. We hope you did too as his valuation has risen since then and it will no doubt continue to rise. Get on him before his price soars!
