Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been tipped to return to action against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Brazilian ‘keeper has been out of action since the opening game of the season against Norwich but has significantly stepped up his recovery from injury during the international break. Spanish goalkeeper Adrian, who was snapped up on a free transfer in the summer, has done a great job providing cover while Alisson has been out, but he is expected to stand aside if Alisson is given the nod to return.
Mo Salah is also expected to make the squad after making progress with the ankle injury that he sustained against Leicester City. Xherdan Shaqiri (calf), and Joel Matip (knock) could also return. Nathaniel Clyne (ACL) remains a long-term absentee.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are set to be handed an injury boost ahead of the match with the return of a number of key players. Paul Pogba (ankle/foot), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (tonsillitis) and Luke Shaw (hamstring) are all expected to be available for selection for the visit of Liverpool to Old Trafford after overcoming their various problems. Jesse Lingard (hamstring) and Anthony Martial (thigh) are also pushing for inclusion in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
Phil Jones (undisclosed) and Eric Bailly (knee) remain sidelined.
Sunday’s game kicks-off at 4.30pm and is being shown live on Sky Sports.
