Liverpool legend John Aldridge says if the Reds can’t turn over Middlesbrough at Anfield on Sunday then they don’t deserve to play in the lucrative Champions League competition next season.
Jürgen Klopp’s men know they have to turn up against the relegated outfit to secure that critical Top 4 finish.

Writing for The Echo, Aldo said: “If we can’t beat Boro at home, we don’t deserve a Champions League place. The players know that, the manager knows that. No excuses.
“If Boro want to come to Anfield and sit back playing for a 0-0 then that’s their prerogative.
“But they’ve been relegated, this is their last Premier League game for some time, so I hope they come and try to have a game of football. Not do what Southampton did and play for the draw, then celebrate at the end like you’ve won the league. That’s not football.
“I think Boro will try and restore some pride and have a go at Liverpool. We might have a few nerves, but we’ve got to get through them and get the job done.
“It’s not the main objective, top four, but for the club’s future, and for what Jurgen Klopp wants to do here, it’s so crucial. We need that Champions League spot so we can get the money to make the squad stronger and more competitive.”
