RUMOURED Line-up for today: #LFC: Reina, Enrique, Agger, Skrtel, Kelly, Gerrard, Henderson, Maxi, Kuyt, Suarez, Carroll. Subs: Gulacsi, Carragher, Coates, Johnson, Downing, Sterling, Shelvey

I'd be happy if this turns out to be true for the reason that it has Sterling in the squad more than anything else. Interesting that it has Kelly in ahead of Johnson.

I have to stress it's not a confirmed team.

With the rumours on lfc news we have 20m to spend and it seems KD is going to be the man to spend it,he knows he has to fish for talent and value so he better start using all the resources at his disposal ie:Sterling, he better get at least 20-30mins

Didn't see it. There's usually a thread with the teams playing in the title. I had a quick browse and then searched 'norwich' but there were no recent threads.

IF Sterling is on the bench today, i hope he gets more than just a 5 minute run out, not much time for him to impress. would like to see him get 15/20 minutes, doubt it will happen though

I can breathe again so laugh

Hopefully Sterling gets a bit of a runout today. Looking forward to the match (I just NEVER learn my lesson). Hopefully it's not more punishment today.

carragher go to the knackers yard , ok looks like 4 5 1.

Should encourage henderson to do what gerard used to do and run through the middle

No sterling - dalglish not doing himself favours-especially if t hey lose

3 defenders on the bench??? Really frown
Posted By: Bar Re: Norwich City vs Liverpool - 28/04/12 08:41 PM
Skrtel rested. No Carroll in the squad - wtf? No Sterling in the squad - MASSIVELY disappointing - YET AGAIN. A keeper plus 3 defenders on the bench. 3 defenders.... seriously. Is that necessary? Especially when we have someone like Sterling itching to get a chance.

It's put a dampener on my excitement for the game, but I'm looking forward to seeing how the forward trio of Downing-Suarez-Bellamy get on, and with Stevie-Hendo-Shelvey behind in midfield.

Gerrard and Bellamy starting so close to the FA cup final. Unbelievable... and Coates needs to play instead of Carragher.

Yeah but he could be playing carragher cos hes going to drop him for final

there is no raheem or any of the youngsters on the bench these are nothing games now.

I can't tell you why Carra is in the team ahead of Coates, aside from experience in his favour, but one thing it does say to me is that maybe Carra won't start in the final..

He played Carra, Skrtel AND Agger in the semi at Wembley. I get the feeling now that he's gonna pick Agger & Skrtel at CB and Enrique at LB for the final, and that putting Carra in today is a way of softening the blow. Just a theory.

As for Sterling, I'd have him in the squad. Okay, you can say that someone would have to be left out, so who? If Skrtel is gonna be rested, then why not left out of the squad altogether - as Carroll has been? (Assuming that's why Carroll's out, and that he's not actually injured). It's frustrating to see Sterling overlooked yet again after his impressive debut.

"Axed" seems like a fairly misguided word to use, assuming you don't know why he's not in the squad. Unless you know something we don't, faz?

Could be. I heard a couple of weeks ago that he had exams. Never heard if it was confirmed or just a rumour, but it's definitely plausible. In saying that, he's played for the reserves, and also travelled with the squad, which makes it an unlikely excuse, surely?
Posted By: Armitage Re: Norwich City vs Liverpool - 28/04/12 08:54 PM
dropped although they would say rested but he doesnt need rest he needs to shapen up

Heggy i know you are strongly pro KD but he could have picked this team from a hat.Do you really want these team selections next season?Playing over the hill defender when he has youngsters waiting. Now is the perfect time to blood these guys.If he's there next season when is he going to play these guys.He could give these guys PL experience not League Cup/FA cup against weaker teams when they could be at the big table

Rested?
Posted By: Flames Re: Norwich City vs Liverpool - 28/04/12 08:55 PM
rested maybe? axed is a bit of a media word in fairness. suggests some kind of punishment.

if im being really honest i couldnt give a flying shiite about this game, the league has been a source of frustration recently and a win or lose is insignificant at this stage. may as well pick fans out of the kop and let them play.

There's no way he was "dropped" or "axed". If he was, he'd be on the bench, not out of the squad altogether. There are only 4 possibly explanations for me.

1. Rested
2. Has picked up a knock
3. Has had a falling out with someone
4. Personal circumstances
Posted By: mightyreds Re: Norwich City vs Liverpool - 28/04/12 08:58 PM
This line up sucks.

No carroll.

3 defenders on the bench. Why the feck do we need 2 CBs on reserve?

Why carra? He has been a disaster and I bet he will be the cause of another goal conceded today.

No Sterling - why why why???

Reina,

What don't you get, mate?

I'd say it's more of a 4-3-2-1 with Bellamy and Downing supporting Suarez from wide. Most likely Downing on the right. This isn't a problem since Carroll isn't playing, so there's not much point in whipping crosses in to Suarez anyway.

I don't know more. I haven't claimed to know more. YOU are the one who claims to know that he's been "axed". You don't know, of course. It's becoming a trend on this forum that a user will spout some nonsensical sh*te, get challenged by a common sense rebuttal, and respond with "agree to disagree" rather than actually backing up their argument with an actual explanation.

And He scores again! Maybe if I complain about Downing he'll score.

We've a whole week to recover for the next game. If any of the players aren't able for that then they're in the wrong business.

don't we have a game midweek?

Good first half from us today. Nice to see some clinical finishing, especially from Luis!

Suarez needs a third. Happy for him to get double figures tho, with his talents you would think he would score a lot more but I guess its not been happening this season.

Remember when his mum was calling for him to come home around the time Spurs were interested and that resulted in 7mins,maybe he has thrown the head up.Who knows? If this isn't the case it's almost criminal not to give the lad a proper go

ah ya could be lining out yourself on tuesday snakes, it'll be a weird line up. coates, maxi, carra, KD, john henry will all start.

Someone wrote in Twitter saying Reserves had 4 days off after the season got over.. May be he didn't train this week... Would like to see him & Robinson getting few minutes against Fulham on Tuesday.

I am crying out for some reserves to play but we will get served up the same crap as usual.

why play players who will not be here next season?

I saw Messi against Chelsea.. May be should play some game for Barcelona B to get his confidence back???
Posted By: EnergisedReds Re: Norwich City vs Liverpool - 28/04/12 11:01 PM
Messi played ok until he missed the penalty and he lost his confidence. Raheem definitely did not play as well as Messi in reserves,so unless you watched the game don't think you can comment that performance. Don't understand how some people think they know better by watching a few youtube clips than a manager who watches the player regularly playing...may be those people should send their CVs to FSG to be considered for the Manager's'job...

that was goal of the season for me boys. goosebumps. he had bugger all time to set himself, wet pitch, 3 miles from goal. inch perfect.

Good game from Carragher also, blocked a few and defended well. Coates should be ahead of him but you gotta give him credit for that, good to see him performing well.

it is only Norwich but I am thankful he stepped up today.

Brilliant really deserved it especially considering abuse from norwich fans and a few dodgy tackles

Best performance I've seen from Carragher since... hell, all season. Well done, that man - he was outstanding today.

Still don't understand the dual inverted wingers idea when neither of our fullbacks are able to cross a ball with any regularity or accuracy. That alone is what has cost Downing his assists this season. We looked great on the break until either of them got the ball near the box, at which point it all broke down because they're both on their weaker side.

Fortunately Gerrard was a beast in midfield. Best game I've seen from him outside the Everton game this year. Suarez scored 3 great goals that will do his confidence a world of good. Shelvey could have grabbed a brace too, and Henderson did alright at DM. And as the commentator said, "Nobody likes it when the keeper goes past you"; mad footie skillz from Reina.

That was one for the statisticians, that game. Final third regains, ftw!

I just hope Andy Carroll watched the Stoke game for Crouch's goal - that is what he needs to be doing in terms of movement around the area.

to little far too late as far as am concerned, it was a very welcome 3pts as it keeps us just behind Everton but come on surely people cant be getting carried away with that performance, two bum teams in my book if am being honest.

yes I agree, just gets a bit unnerving when the same person seems so engrossed in my posts to the point they follow you more than others, there again if a person's life needs that then so be it.

I thought the one from Luis today was better because of the angle..
Posted By: elimmel Re: Norwich City vs Liverpool - 29/04/12 09:33 AM
It was great due to the speed of thought and execution. One glance, couple of touches, goal!
Posted By: heggypompom Re: Norwich City vs Liverpool - 29/04/12 09:54 AM
it was a pure class goal, and to even think of doing it was cheeky in the 1st place:)

Yeah, me too. Also, for Xabi's one the keeper was an absolute stumbling mess and should have stopped it.
Posted By: heggypompom Re: Norwich City vs Liverpool - 29/04/12 04:35 PM
any goal from the angle should never really go in, as it means the keeper is too far out

but I love those goals just for the keeper scrambling back in a attempt to avoid being embarrass.

I agree lets be honest if it was Reina it went past he would be getting slaughtered, lets just put in into perspective, it was a good strike, cheeky to take it on but at the end of the day the goalie needs a strong talking too for letting the goal go in from that far out, luckily for him the game had already gone, if it was the winning goal it would of been looked on differently by Paul Lambert.
Posted By: heggypompom Re: Norwich City vs Liverpool - 29/04/12 05:20 PM
agreed

has a liverpool keeper ever suffered that?
