More ‘madness’ from Karius - 05/12/18 02:51 AM

After another ‘madness’ player could be sent back to Liverpool early

By Nihat Emre Kocaaslan - 3rd December 2018

Besiktas goalkeeper Loris Karius is once again dominating the sport headlines in Turkey following the club’s Europa League clash with Norwegian side Sarpsborg.

The Liverpool loanee was at fault, at least according to some, for both Sarpsborg’s goals but the Turkish side eventually won the match 3-2.

Turkish newspaper Takvim has criticised the goalkeeper’s performances and they’ve used the headline ‘Karius madness once again.’

This has opened up suggestions the German keeper could return to Liverpool at the end of the season if his form doesn’t improve.

Gunes Besiktas reporter Safak Malatya has explained the agreement Besiktas has with Liverpool: “There’s no mandatory clause on Karius contract. The agreement is two-year loan deal. Besiktas have the option to cancel or extend the deal at the end of the season. There’s also no clause in the contract for the future sale. The thing is, Besiktas have the total control over the loan deal.”

Karius was sent out on loan to Besiktas in the last transfer window and it was hoped he could find his confidence after the mistakes he made in the Champions League final in May.

However, his move to the Istanbul club hasn’t gone to plan and he was recently dropped from the starting line up.

With Liverpool having Allison and Simon Mignolet at their disposal it seems Karius doesn’t have a future with the Premier League club and he may have a decision to make next year.

Why madness?
1st goal he had to come out but got beat.
2nd goal was out of nowhere and one of those that you don’t save often or at all.
The defence was crap and he did make a few good saves

1st goal he came right out of his area when he had no need to, leading with his leg out, when his defender was upsides the opponents striker.

2nd goal he was way off his line, almost centre of the box, again no need to from a positional perspective.

I’m with Eli on this one. Keepers come out like that all the time. He was off his line but no real problem with it when you look at where the ball was.

Small margins.

First goal, not sure the defender was going to catch the goalscorer. I'd need to see it a few secs before the video started to see if he was too slow to come of his line.

2nd goal brilliantly hit lob with power and dip. But not sure if he should be getting beat with a lob from there. Positioning looked ok. Hard to call.

Hmm... would we all have same views if it were Alisson? or does our expectation lower because it was Karius?

We all know Karius is gash, and I never want to see him back here in any shape or form.

So he probably was just his usual self and did a few good saves and then topped it off with about the same amount of clangers.

I probably would. Sometimes a keeper has to come out. Sometimes it’s best to stay back. In that situation for the first goal it was a 50:50 call for me whether to stay or go. The defender wouldn’t have stopped their striker without fouling him as he was the wrong side and heading for the box.

The second one you could say he was too far out but where the ball was didn’t really necessitate that. No keeper stays on their line when the ball is a way from the box.

But we all know he’s not hood enough for us so it’s all pretty irrelevant. Hopefully we never have to go to the likes of him again.

What's the point of this thread, to keep on beating somebody down?

Mmmn goes walk about for the first one, fair enough, at fault but the second goal is poor brilliance, can't blame him for that one. Wouldn't want him anywhere near Liverpool though, sorry, just not at the level for me.

Shouldn't be running out when the striker is in control of the ball with a defender running with him and the second is poor reactions.

The defender is no where near him so as I said, it’s a 50:50 whether to stay or go. Second was a bit of a belter too so to bash him so much for those two is a bit harsh.

But we all know he’s not good enough and he didn’t do it for us so who really cares?

He's a fuuckin leper. he lost a champions league trophy then bitched about losing his place. Change the locks, he's not coming back and if he does then what are the club thinking. He should have been tossed out of a moving car mafia style

Karius is always going to be scrutinized for obvious reasons. But if he does the basics and earns respect, that would also be online.
Confidence is not the issue with this lad.

He was well thought of when we got him, all the stats available had him in the Top 3 Goalkeepers in Germany at the time. His move to us put him on the map for his extracurricular activities, modelling and shacking up with a reality tv star...not exactly the wholesome things to be doing to become grounded and committed to becoming the next Liverpool Goalkeeper for a decade or more. His competition for that coveted slot was nonexistent and he still managed to "Mr Bean" it all up!

Do Clubs not have any guidance employees anymore or is this something that went by the wayside when Agents became more greedy?

Re: More ‘madness’ from Karius - 07/12/18 02:08 PM

I think he is a product of the reality soap world of today. It's more important how you look than what you actually do.

The training video from the US was a good example of what he's like and what keeps him ticking.

It's also an interesting fact that teachers of today regularly get in trouble for putting kids straight and trying to educate them. Where the parents are is anyones guess.

The teachers give up and the end result is young adults who can't behave and think they are the best thing the world has ever seen.

Club employees who guide players into adult life would be a good thing. But as you say: Maybe the agents would protest should it happen?

The players and clubs have huge contracts with sponsors to promote their goods on the likes of Twitter/Facebook etc, so it must be difficult to clamp down on it. When you looks at players signing now, I've seen a few reports where players & clubs are arguing over media rites etc, which is all related I guess.

I've heard a few clubs have mobile phone bans at the training ground etc, unfortunately it's all just part of society now, we now have a generation coming through who have never known a world without tinternt/Social Media, so all realism is out the window !

ahhhhhhhhhh the younger entitled generation, never done anything in their lives and yet they believe the world owes them something!
Whatever was your Parents or teachers' favoured method of punishment / discipline growing up, it drummed plenty of qualities about RESPECT into us old fogies. We learned quickly that hardwork brought it's reward.

Social media and lack of discipline does have a lot to answer for.

Respect?? The only lasting impression the beatings at school left with me was a lack of respect for authority .

The idea that the previous generation was somehow harder working than this one or more disciplined is hilarious to me. The siren song of the 70s and 60s was "Tune in, turn on, drop out." The counter-culture of rebellion was invented by your generation.

The baby boomers in the US and England inherited some of the strongest economies in recorded history and the best infrastructure in their recorded history. After reaping the rewards of labor of their elders they have simultaneously raised spending (though not on the infrastructure) and lowered taxes, creating trillions of debt with no plan to pay for it.

College tuition has increased tenfold, cost of living has increased 112%, and wages haven't moved since the 70s.

But sure, participation trophies and Facebook are responsible for the mess we're in.

And even if this generation didn't receive enough discipline from their parents, sure that responsibility lies with their parents? That's on the boomers.
