what a pile of [oops] that game was.
if barca play like that on tuesday chelsea could put 8 men out there and beat them.
the were slow, devoid of ideas, jaded and just really limp. they are going to get dumped out if they dont get their shiit together in a big way.
their defence is shocking.

Yeah tbh felt like I was watching a lfc game this season like watching Stoke at home.
Barca need better forwards they can't rely on att mids or wingers playing upfront all the time like Fabregas/Sanchez/Tello/Iniesta.
I know it's the way they play with a false number 9 in messi and no forwards but sometimes you need a predator like Eto'o and Villa were for them.
Upcoming world class players IMO for 2014 WORLD CUP: K-P Boateng, Gotze, Sturridge, Kroos, Lucas Leiva, Hummels, Kyriakos Papadopoulos,

Could mean a backlash against chelsea as the champions league ( and Copa ) is there only chance at a cup this year, or they could play like today and make it 3 losses in a row, as great a team as they are they rely a lot on Messi ..

Agreed. The team that wanted it more won today without a doubt. It was a pretty sh*t match to watch in fairness. I had a feeling it was gonna be as soon as Real scored early on though.
Mourinho's team had control at that stage, so what they then needed to do was stop Barca playing, which in their book means playing dirty and get heavy-handed with them. Which, you can't really argue with - it may not seem right, or pretty, but it's good management. They can't beat Barca at football. If they try play them at that, they're gonna lose, so they have to play to their strengths. Which they did. It worked, they won, and they have the title more or less wrapped up now! Deservedly so too.
Hard to believe Rafa won two titles with Valencia. That league is such a two horse race now it's unbelievable. It's almost as extreme as the Scottish Premier now. I was talking to my mate about it earlier and he pointed out that Barca and Real's goal differences are in the +70s, and the nearest to that is Valencia with +8. 11 of the league's teams are in the minuses. Unbelievable.

Barca missing many players they needed in the game(Piqu,Villa,Keita) injury and fatigue finally caught up with them, Telo had 5 clear chances but lost his nerves in front of goal, if Villa was at the other end of them...

And there comes that funny old feeling again - Messi isn't good enough in the games that really matter. I've felt it for a while, and it was something one used to be able to say about C. Ronaldo. But Ronaldo played Messi off the park yesterday, and deserved the winner (and trust me I'm no Ronaldo fan). Messi looked like a worse Jonjo Shelvey out there. It didn't help that Iniesta was largely absent all game as well.
But don't trust me. Messi's scored 0 in 7 outings against Chelsea. This for a player who just surpassed the Barcelona club scoring record at just 24 years of age. I'm not saying he's rubbish, he's still a brilliant player, but his relative inability to perform for Argentina and against the very best sides in Europe makes me wonder a bit about him. It's a bit like watching Stuart Downing in some respects - he demolishes Championship sides, but isn't the catalyst one would expect against the sides in the EPL. The best way to stop Barcelona is to stop Messi playing, and the only way to do that is to give him no space. Real and Chelsea did that, and they both won. The other sides in La Liga simply aren't capable of doing that, and that's why he's scored 65 or however many it is this season in all competitions.
If Messi finds himself in 1 on 1 confrontations all day, he will rip a team apart. But if he finds himself outnumbered throughout the 90, he has very little say in the matter. One would expect the rest of his team mates to pick up the pieces, but without Villa and with Xavi only getting older, maybe they simply can't. I'm starting to wonder whether Chelsea might not nick a draw and go through - I didn't think that a week ago.
And of course everyone is fixated on whether Drogba will play, while Rafa basically said "10 men behind the ball and Torres up front". Worked for Liverpool...

Horrible game from Barca. If they play like this on Tuesday, they are toast. Is their reign as the best team in the world coming to an end or is this just a blip?
