I agree, Top 4 is based on other teams all dropping points, I cannot see that happening.

Interesting thing is do we want to drop out of the Europa League (or whatever it is now!!!) places also? I think a straight run at PL and cups next season would be better than playing the Europa which gives very little reward for all the games/travel etc. Reminds me of 2013/14 when we just went at the PL and nearly won it under Brendan, could be our best option to beat City next season to the PL.

Winning CL is possible, we have a good route to the final, so you never know, it only takes 5 good games, which we are capable off, but so are the other teams left in the competition.

Nine games left. We have 46 points. We need to get to somewhere around 68 points to have a chance so 22 points out of 27 or 7 wins 1 draw and 1 defeat.

Dont think it works like that, ie, a total of X. Can't see us catching Leicester who are 10 points ahead, so we'll need to take 5 points maybe 6 from Chelsea who are playing better than us, without counting Spurs and the Hammers. So, fair to say we should forget about top 4, not going to happen. Winning the CL on the other hand is in our hands, but close to impossible, but there is always a slim chance in KO games. The club and its owners are getting what they deserve, I hope they at least learn their lesson

Looking at games left and who against I think United are now out of reach, however Leicester and Chelsea I believe are still within reach.

Leicester still have to play:

03/04/21 - Leicester v Man City
11/04/21 - West Ham v Leicester
01/05/21 - Southampton v Leicester
11/05/21 - Man Utd v Leicester
15/05/21 - Chelsea v Leicester
23/05/21 - Leicester v Spurs

I have chosen games where I believe they CAN drop points and that is 6 games from their last 9 games. There's at least 3 defeats amongst those 6 games and some draws. Considering we are 10 points behind if we go on a run from our remaining games, Leicester are well within sight for us.

Chelsea still have to play:

10/04/21 - Crystal Palace v Chelsea (smack in middle of CL games v Porto)
17/04/21 - Chelsea v Brighton (this comes within 4 days of playing 2nd leg CL v Porto - then FA Cup game v City)
24/04/21 - West Ham v Chelsea
08/05/21 - Man City v Chelsea
12/05/21 - Chelsea v Arsenal
15/05/21 - Chelsea v Leicester
23/05/21 - Aston Villa v Chelsea

There's at least 2 potential defeats for Chelsea amongst that lot left even for allowing their current good form. FA Cup and CL participation will distract them.

Liverpool just can't afford to f...cuk up we can maybe afford a draw likely @United but the rest of our games are winnable even allowing for our patched up defence.

As things stand I believe our best route to next seasons CL participation is by getting 4th spot in this seasons PL.

This changes if we get beat by Arsenal in our next PL game...it's that tight regarding where our focus should be on.

I rather think that we are not strong enough to catch all those in front of us, but as in any cup competition, we can have our chance. Therefore, the CL route us more likely though very difficult. In 2005 we didn't have the best team but ended up winning it, we have to hope for something similar

Results so far, going our way this weekend.

2 points behind Chelsea and Spurs just fc..ked up v the Geordies even though I've not got them as a contender for Top 4.

I think Top 4 is open now for any of the teams 3-8, good news is we seem to be playing better football/more confidence, defence is more settled, Fab back in MF and we have some key players coming back, like Jota, so we are in the mix and those other teams will fear us as they know what we are capable of.

Will be interesting to see how Chelsea respond, Tucal did not experience many losses at PSG as they were easy league winners, he has a reputation for throwing players under the bus, so let see how that pans out, it is the first criticism he has had since he took over.

I also think Leicester may drop off, they have missed Madison, Vardy is not scoring regularly, they will remember what happened last season and that will affect them.

We seem to be finally hitting a little form and with players returning we're maybe the one team that could put a run together.

I hope Leicester hold on this time, and we need them to beat WH, Chelsea and Spurs.
Chelsea's run in looks tough. Plenty of teams around us will be playing/beating each other:

24/04/21 - West Ham v Chelsea
08/05/21 - Man City v Chelsea
12/05/21 - Chelsea v Arsenal
15/05/21 - Chelsea v Leicester
23/05/21 - Aston Villa v Chelsea

It is hard to predict games at this stage of the season, teams are fighting for their survival, looks at WBA at the weekend battering Chelsea, no one saw that coming, same with Everton & Spurs dropping points, maybe they are more predictable !!!!

We are now in the mix, a few weeks ago we looked well out of it, so hopefully hitting abit off form and some stability with returning players will help drive us on to Top 4.

Tonight brought us back to earth after the Arsenal game. We are not a top 4 team and can only play one way. Other teams have all seen it now.
