We could have done this last season. Having won the title and knowing that the season timetable had been messed up, for whatever we didn't rest the first team players. We now have an opportunity or even a need to start thinking of the future if we want to avoid problems next season.

Some thoughts:

Try a different system. e.g. play Williams at right back and push TAA into midfield. Rotate Salah, Mane & Firmino instead of playing all three from the start every game.

Play Kabak and Phillips at CB for a few games. Let's see what happens.

Use Wijnaldum only when necessary, e.g. in CL. In the league games we need to perhaps give Ox a run of games.

The only reason not to do any of the above or something similar is if we are desperate for a CL spot for financial reasons. In that case, Klopp may be forced to play his trusted system and team and just hope that somehow the form comes back. That doesn't look likely to work at the moment though.

Klopp will play the system he thinks has the better chance of success, i am sure he tries things in training and rightly so, this is what training is meant for.

I agree, Klopp will be adjusting the system to fit the players he has available, one of the problems Klopp has, is he buys players to suit the system, a player like VvD is much more than just a great CB, he steps into MF and supports them , allowing the MF to press with confidence knowing the defence will cover, his passing ability starts allot of our attacks and he worries opposing defences with his ability to play in a player like Salah or Mane.

We have lost so many first team players, especially in defense, we are bringing in U23/new players, but they are not the same quality/experienced players we have had for the last 3 years of success, and to integrate so many at once is causing serious problems as we see with the results and poor form.

I find it ironic that what most have been saying since the turn of the year, in picking players in their natural positions, injuries have now finally forced Klopp to do this! He should have been playing Williams and Phillips together and allow them to develop their partnership and thus keeping Hendo and Fabinho in their natural midfield positions. Who knows, we may still be in with a fighting chance of the PL and Hendo & Fab may not be injured? Our whole dynamic has been f,u,#ked by juggling players out of position. 17 different CB partnerships used so far this season is unacceptable and is amateur!

There should be an inquest at the end of the season to make sure this sh#t never happens again.

Phillips is not the best cb a top team can have but he is solid and could have played a lot more games. Williams is younger and not too sure about him yet. If and when Fab comes back I hope to see him play in midfield and Thiago or Gini out.
