Klopp needs to take this competition seriously and play the first team, no messing about and playing neco Williams and Keleher, we have an 8 day gap between the fa cup game and Utd so there is no excuses to rest anyone, play them all, let thiago get another 60mins under his belt to get his match sharpness up and let the rest of the first team get back in form. We lost to this lot a couple months ago badly and it would really annoy me to get dumped out again on our asses. Klopp's results in the cups have been poor and he needs to cut this crap out we aren't a non league team just getting knocked out at the first hurdle every bloody season.

I am afraid that now he will play Minamino and Shaq and some other mixed team. That is not fair towards Minamino or Shaq as they never get games with the established team. So they can never really show what they are worth. I would rest Bobby and play Minamino and play Shaq in midfield instead of Ox.

Yep it's 8 days rest so play strong side without giving the game away too much regarding what United might expect at Anfield.

Play the fringe players

When the draw was made against United I was annoyed we had been given another difficult tie yet again when City seem to get only League 2 fodder.

Now with our dip I'm actually really looking forward to this and think it's just what we need. A big important game... only now there is no expectation on us at all, the pressure monkey if off our back. I just want to see them go out and play and enjoy themselves and try and get some of that fun back, win or loose, just go down fighting.

Maybe a good gung ho cup run is just what we need.

Agree with Stan's revised opinion mostly. I wouldn't say we should put so much on this game such that we'll all get terribly upset if we get knocked out. But we should play a strong team with a view to trying to regain form, confidence and work out a solution to our problems. That may mean a few of the back up players being involved and also some new attacking ideas perhaps. That may provide us with useful information for our league campaign as well.

Something like:

Allison, TAA, Phillips, Fabinho, Robertson, Shaqiri, Ox, Thiago, Minamino, Salah, Origi.

Mane, Firmino, Wij, Hendo on the subs bench

I'm a bit content that atleast we tried by playing a full team, the draw was not kind to us unfortunately but we scored 2 goals so that is an improvement on the past 4 games.

Better performance, we scored 2 goals, hopefully we can carry this into Thursdays game.

I felt for Williams, completely out of his depth as a young defender, he's been dropped in there, I get that as we need to be careful with Matip and hope he stays fit, would Phillips have been a worse option? he has allot more experience at least.

i would have thought Phillips would be a better option as he's more physical and sticks to his man better. Williams is slow and coupled with his lack of experience, will always struggle against the frontline of man utd.
