With Man City and Chelsea slipping up this weekend this is a chance to get a lead on probably our 2 biggest rivals for retaining the PL Title.

Our opponent - Arsenal have beaten us the last 2 times we have met and Arteta is slowly but surely building the Gunners up to become a force to be reckoned with. They will be one of our biggest threats to ending our unbeaten 60 game run at Anfield, especially with us being handicapped without the aid of our 12th man.

Joe Gomez is expected to be fit, however with Fabinho's performance in shackling Werner for Chelsea in our last PL match, Klopp has a quandary to figure out. VVD and Fabinho were an imperious double act v Chelsea, much better than VVD and Gomez were v Leeds...so which pairing at the back to start?

It is an opportunity to try Alcantara in Fab's holding role if Klopp does go with the most recent and effective PL pairing.
A midfield of Alcantara, Wij and Keita with our potent trident ahead of them and we should do to Arsenal what we did with Chelsea and depose another Top 4 pretender.

We have more depth coming from the bench now with serious challengers for most positions keeping the chosen starters on their toes.

Probable Starters:

Alisson

TAA Fab VVD Robbo

Wij Alcantara Keita

Salah Bobby Mane

An amazing opportunity for us here to lay down a marker and go clear of our title rivals early on.

read that Alisson and Thiago could be out... that makes things tougher especially with Alisson unavailable.

We must not slip up now with City being without Gabriel Jesus for up to a month and Aguero probably another 2 months, City are going to drop more points going forward. Next up for City is an away trip to Leeds and then a home game v Arsenal - 2 games they can easily drop points.

Hopefully it's a ploy by Klopp not to give out our likely starting team. Arteta is tactically astute and will adjust for the best outcome for his team.

Alisson did miss 14 games last season due to hip and calf problems, let's hope it's not something ongoing. We do need a more reliable backup Keeper than Adrian - 8 to 10m for Butland from Stoke would be a much better option...maybe even using Adrian or Karius as part of an exchange plus cash?

If Allison is injury prone we really need a back up goalkeeper we can trust in high stake matches not only against Lincoln in cups.
