According to pep who took charge of the press conference, a strong team will feature against Lincoln. My guess is it will be a mixture of bench players and youngsters as we play Arsenal 3 days later. A lot of fans out there don't care for this game and some would rather lose so we have more rest between games but how long can we neglect these competitions? We have a big enough squad to compete on all fronts provided no one leaves this window so hopefully Klopp and the boys try everything to win the cups this season.

If we keep winning champions leagues and domestic leagues I couldn't really give a rats ass about the league cup. Would it be nice to win everything? Yes. It would be nice to win a league cup or FA cup if we don't win anything else, yes. Other than that I'm more than happy to have rotated squad for the league cup and have a look at some of the fringe players and see if they can do well.

We are in a position of strength at the moment and whilst we are, we should take seriously every game including domestic cup games.
Until we are at a point where we have no other option but to field a much weakened team then we need to carry on winning each and every game.

Going out there each and every time we need to strike fear into every opponent that comes before us. A lot of these games can be won without having to kick a ball in anger. Our opponents mindset and tactics will be defeatist, get the games won then we can rest our elite players. I would hate to see at the end of the season that had we taken these domestic cup games more seriously we have something to celebrate.

Our squad is now on a par with City who take every competition seriously, then you look at the likes of Chelsea who are building a strong squad. We can't aid the likes of Chelsea coming along and winning this competition and giving them impetus for next season and we have to break City's stranglehold of these domestic comps.

My starting team:

Alisson (We can't rely on Adrian, Karius or any of the kids...any stupid mistakes which they are prone to and this game becomes harder than it has to be)

TAA (he needs games at moment, his form has been sketchy)

Gomez (if he's fit needs to play)

VVD (just his presence strikes fear into opposing teams)

Tsimikas (let's see what he's about)

Keita (he needs games to finally show us he deserves his place)

Alcantara (I would look to give Thiago the 1st half then Fabinho the 2nd half)

Gini (we have to keep playing Gini now more than ever to show he's such an integral part of this team and not allow him to let his contract situation blind his thinking)

Jota (give Salah a rest and let's see what Jota can do)

Firmino (he needs to play to get his mojo back)

Mane (get the game won and look to give Mane a rest)

Subs: Adrian, Fab, Salah, Minamino, Milner, Jones, Origi

I have no interest in this competition but good to see the youngsters and fringe players and maybe another look at Thiago

What do you mean you have no interest? You're a Liverpool fan aren't you???

Good to see Shaq start and score a brilliant free kick. Seems he is still in our plans.

Some interesting choices in this game:

Adrian - well and truly our back up - so Karius has to be sold.
Neco - back up RB and why Hoever was sold
Tsimaks - back up left back
Virgil - odd to see he is risked
Rhys Williams - Who? Klopp says we're short of CBs but has Van den Berg on the bench!
Jones - two goals by half time - the future and now ahead of Ox for AM
Elliot - Klopp believes in this kid - he got a first half assist
Grujic - good to see him get a runout - makes you wonder about Wij and Milner
Shaq - good to see him back - great freekick and back in Klopp's plans
Taki - scores and is securely the backup for Bobby
Origi - interesting he's still involved but not Brewster - nice assist too.

It really pisses me off when fans say that, I just don't understand, we have a good squad so why not go for it?
