So looks like Uefa have put a limit on of 3rd August..............

https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/04/ue...-cancel-season/

When they say a completion date of 3rd August, is that to complete each League, Like PL/Serie A/La Liga/Bundesliga etc? so if they are not done by that date they are cancelled? typical Uefa giving half the info...

It really is guess work ATM when we will resume, predictions on the virus are based on computer models and experience of CHona, whoch is not to be relied upon IMO.

Most PL teams have 10 games to play, so even if you say 2 games a week (Sat/Wed) and forget everything else like FA Cup/CL/Europa etc, that's 5 weeks, so working back from August 3rd your talking starting playing 3rd week of June, before that players have to get fit/train etc, so it's going to be close if the Virus does stop spreading/infecting and runs out ......

I didn’t think uefa could tell the EPL when it had to finish?

And as I’ve said times before, no point in setting a time in this season if there’s no guarantee that next season will start on time. It’ll just be a waste of two seasons.

UEFA can request/advise, as the leagues play in Uefa competitions, so they set the rules that the leagues follow to play in CL etc.

So Uefa could ban City from CL but not the PL, but PL would find it hard to ignore Uefa guidance/rulings, as they could kick PL teams out of European Competitions etc, all leagues follow the same timetables pretty much for start/end of season.

https://www.premierleague.com/about

'The Premier League is a private company wholly owned by its 20 Member Clubs who make up the League at any one time.

Each individual club is independent, working within the rules of football, as defined by the Premier League, The FA, UEFA and FIFA, as well as being subject to English and European law.

Each of the 20 clubs are a Shareholder in the Premier League. Consultation is at the heart of the Premier League and Shareholder meetings are the ultimate decision-making forum for Premier League policy and are held at regular intervals during the course of the season.'

It's a worry UEFA have put a completion date on it, rather than saying the current leagues must complete before new ones start ......

I'm guessing UEFA want an end to the season August 3rd to give the next season a delayed start in September, they may have a shorter summer break as the players are having a long mid season break of a few months now really, to finish next season for the Euro's summer 2021

There’s no certainty that the new season can start in August or even as early as September. There’s absolutely no point putting an arbitrary end date in this season before knowing if the next can even start let alone start on time. All UEFA care about is losing money.

And how do you sort out who is where? Voiding the season after so much of it has finished isn’t an option as isn’t fair on enough teams to be viable.

UEFA obviously want a full CL programme next season and will be using things like no Internationals to their advantage. As big as Euro 2021 is the CL is much bigger.

Sounds like UEFA want it all.

Such a move will bring about the scrapping of the League Cup here for next season at least and also the Johnstones Paint or CheckaTrade Trophy or whatever it is. That will go. All FA Cup games will get settled in one game, no replays, maybe no extra time. Might just go straight to pens.

I agree, there is no certainty, but UEFA have decided to put a line in the sand in effect, by the looks of it, they are saying to the leagues that they must be completed by 3rd August, whatever they do, whether it is behind closed doors/awarding positions as they stand/playing some sort of tournament like play offs etc, they want the leagues completed this season by then, so they can start the new leagues for 2020-2021, followed by the Euros, that's how it appears.

The next PL meeting will be interesting, as they will have to react to UEFA's decision, this is driven by money from TV and sponsors, if the leagues are completed, the TV companies and sponsors cannot complain as the leagues have completed their contractual obligation I guess, then they start afresh for 2020-2021 league as normal (if the virus has gone).

Wimbledon has just been cancelled, that's the end of June to middle of July, if they cannot play there, with much smaller and easier to handle crowds, there is no chance football will start in that time frame either.

Different type of fan ecnirp, Wimbledon is the prawn sarnies, hoity-toity toffs with money who go there more as a statement rather than to watch the tennis. You couldn't exactly do Wimbledon behind closed doors without seeing Batchelor Boy, Light in his Loafers - Cliff Richard in his turned up collars and turned up cuffs.

What an ignorant post. I know plenty of people who have been, some go regularly and none are as you describe.
