I thought I'd throw some interest into what's left of our fading PL Challenge and if based on prev year fixture results we have anything to be bullish or upbeat about? For the likes of Fulham as an example, I have based on the last time they were in PL 13/14 season...

Current Standings:

1. Man City P29 - GD +56 - Pts 71

2. Liverpool P29 - GD +49 - Pts 70

Remaining Fixtures:

09/03/19 - Man City v Watford (Last Season Man City 3 v 1 Watford)

10/03/19 - LFC v Burnley (Last Season LFC 1 v 1 Burnley)

Standings After 30 Games:

1. Man City P30 - GD +58 - Pts 74

2. Liverpool P30 - GD +49 - Pts 71
-------------------------------------

17/03/19 - Fulham v LFC (13/14 Season Fulham 2 v 3 LFC)

30/03/19 - Fulham v Man City (13/14 Season Fulham 2 v 4 Man City)

Standings After 31 Games:

1. Man City P31 - GD +60 - Pts 77

2. Liverpool P31 - GD +50 - Pts 74
---------------------------------------

31/03/19 - LFC v Spurs (LFC 2 v 2 Spurs)

06/04/19 - Man City v Cardiff (Man City 4 v 2 Cardiff)

Standings After 32 Games:

1. Man City P32 - GD +62 - Pts 80

2. Liverpool P32 - GD +50 - Pts 75
--------------------------------------

05/04/19 - Southampton v LFC (Southampton 0 v 2 LFC)

14/04/19 - Palace v Man City (Palace 0 v 0 Man City)

Standings After 33 Games:

1. Man City P33 - GD +62 - Pts 81

2. Liverpool P33 - GD +52 - Pts 78
-------------------------------------------

14/04/19 - LFC v Chelsea (LFC 1 v 2 Chelsea)

20/04/19 - Man City v Spurs (Man City 4 v 1 Spurs)

Standings After 34 Games:

1. Man City P34 - GD +65 - Pts 84

2. Liverpool P34 - GD +51 - Pts 78
----------------------------------------

21/04/19 - Cardiff v LFC (Cardiff 3 v 6 LFC)

24/04/19 - Man Utd v Man City (Man Utd 1 v 2 Man City)

Standings After 35 Games:

1. Man City P35 - GD +66 - Pts 87

2. Liverpool P35 - GD +54 - Pts 81
--------------------------------------

26/04/19 - LFC v Huddersfield (LFC 3 v 0 Huddersfield)

28/04/19 - Burnley v Man City (Burnley 1 v 1 Man City)

Standings After 36 Games:

1. Man City P36 - GD +66 - Pts 88

2. Liverpool P36 - GD +57 - Pts 84
-----------------------------------------

04/05/19 - Newcastle v LFC (Newcastle 1 v 1 LFC)

04/05/19 - Man City v Leicester (Man City 5 v 1 Leicester)

Standings After 37 Games:

1. Man City P37 - GD +70 - Pts 91

2. Liverpool P37 - GD +57 - Pts 85
-------------------------------------------

12/05/19 - LFC v Wolves (11/12 Season - LFC 2 v 1 Wolves)

12/05/19 - Brighton v Man City (Brighton 0 v 2 Man City)

Standings After 38 Games:

1. Man City P38 - GD +72 - Pts 94

2. Liverpool P38 - GD +58 - Pts 88

So there you have it folks...City retain the title and beat us by a further 5 points and a +7 GD on where we currently stand now.

Granted we are in a different season with different players / managers and motivations for the teams we both play, however we do have form for bottling it, whilst City in the current era not so much!

Klopp and Liverpool have a mountain to climb and the first tricky ascent is this Sunday a fixture we could only draw last season @home 1 v 1 Burnley.

For what's worth I think it shows that given past performances, the league is City to lose. For the season so far, we have been better than last season and City worse, however, since the turn of the new year we have performed as last year. We stayed on top until Dec because we won all games we were supposed to, even if some were saying at the beginning of the season that the early games were not that important to win. However, we have drawn at least 2 games we were expected to win this calendar year, thus lost the advantage we had with City's slip ups.

Can you do it from two seasons back and see how that pans out? I’m sure we can win it if you go back far enough.

Hold on I'll check our last title winning season in 89/90 when Luton Town, Coventry City, Millwall, Wimbledon, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic, Aston Villa & Derby County were on the agenda...errrrr...errrr...maybe I'll use attendances instead? we'd have a chance!

The obvious hindrance to Man City and help to Liverpool which is not factored in is Man City's continuance in other Competitions. It would help for Man City to be drawn against Man Utd (if both win through their Quarter Finals) in the Semi-Final of The FA Cup. Also for Man City to overcome Schalke and draw a BIG team like Barcelona in the Quarter-Finals of the CL.

We do need City to falter and for us to find a way to win no matter the cost of injuries or bans. With 9 games to go we have to be all in and keep as much pressure on City as possible.
Liverpool has got to be bold and brave now and find a way to win for each PL game going forward. Klopp has got stop the silly team changes...he must know who his best team is and he must have total faith in them going forward. It's time he played the likes of Keita from the start and allow him to become integral to this team. If Klopp chops and changes his first 11 we won't have a chance. Playing Lallana and Origi has failed us, unless somebody's legs have fallen off Lallana and origi shouldn't get pitchside, same applies to Sturridge unless we are out of sight in games to preserve our 1st first 11 players.

We must attack, attack, attack with a huge smattering of chasing down players when we don't have the ball. Pointless having a solid defence when the end result is a draw.

City have the obvious easier run in (apart from going to Old Toilet), I'm just hoping all their other competitions n sheer amount of games is their undoing.
