We used to go to the lakes mainly rides out of Ambleside it's about 60 minutes drive but not been for a few years now. Used to have fry up breakfast in Ambleside but of a shop in the bike / outdoor shops and up the mountain about 11am with my full Sus. I also have a hardtail (also Scott) which I use on local trails mostly canal towpaths and local woods main use getting fit. However my main hobby now is arguing with strangers since I bought an iPad. That's progress

This is my all time favourite the Skiddaw descent (north lakes) a two hour push up and then 30 minutes of pure joy down. Other than a bit of technical stuff at the very top its its straightforward singletrack and you dont need a fancy bike either.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

All the utube films only tend to show the upper and middle probably because their go pros have drained their very limited batteries. However for me the best bit is the end into Keswick. A very fast but easy singletrack and your adrenaline is high and you have your eye in plus it's way easier than what was before hence you feel like a world champion as you glide into Keswick for coffee and cake and can look up at the mountain and say I came down that in 30 minutes non stop.

My only niggle so far with this biking lark is the bloody accessories .. Probably gonna end up costing me more than the bike.

Just make sure you get a decent skid lid.
