Glancing front page of the echo tonight Tommy smith,s daughter the anfield iron has dementia and can no longer dress himself. To those of a certain age that's a very sad bit of information. Alex young of Everton passed away too.

Dreadful hateful illness.
No cure sadly, so let's just hope he isn't suffering too badly.

there's been news recently that heading the ball has been a key cause of Dementia in football players.

to think that the thumping header in '77 that gave us so much pleasure for so long could have led to this. Very sad.

Real shame, great man.

He was a player before my time, so only seen the clips and heard the stories, puts tonight's result in perspective.

What a player! What a leader! I remember that header in '77 and in those days the ball was pretty heavy and he really smacked it home.
Alzheimers has affected some of my family and I feel deeply for Tommy and his family.
