Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) say they may not expand Anfield further because of a fans' protest that took place at Anfield back in February. <snip> Henry said: "I don't know if there is a next step because ticket prices are an issue in England. That may foreclose further expansion. We'll have to see." Original article in full ... http://www.koptalk.com/liverpool-fc-news/fsg-may-not-extend-anfield-due-fans-protest/

Maybe they haven't found anyone for naming rights of the main stand because they want to leave that up for potential new owners? must be more than meets the eye

This was always going to happen.
We all expect our owners to just hand out money. How dare me make a profit in a transfer window. (They financed the main stand for around £120mil) but we won't mention that.
If we want a bigger stadium and we do.we are gonna have to pay a bit more for our tickets. People who go the game already won't like this but people who can't get to a game because of the demand for tickets won't care too much.
I've offered £100 for a ticket a few times and while it isn't gonna be £100 a week. We all know that even a slight increase on tickets won't stop anfield being full on match day.
We are a self sufficient club after all

Surely he can see the other benefits of the expansion though, what about the value it adds to the club? I'm sure investing 50 million to make the stadium bigger and better would add more than 50 million to the value of the club. Not to mention the benefits to the fans and hopefully to the atmosphere which would benefit the team itself. It would't even cost them anything, it pays for itself within about 10 years and the money must be there to fund it, seen as we made a 60 million profit last year and spent no money on transfers this year.

Pure greed! but we've had this all along... He can sp...unk a $217 million contract on one player for his Rounders team BUT when it comes to Liverpool FC he wants to do everything on the cheap but charge premium to fans in an area of high unemployment!
We are not in London we are in Liverpool, John! If you want to go to Hollywood and pay low budget for your movies then it is going to be very rare...next to impossible to get the Oscars! Stump up and shut up or feck off!
